Aspen Project Given Design Excellence Award

Indianapolis, Ind. – January 10, 2008 – The Indiana Concrete Masonry Association (ICMA) held their annual Award of Excellence Banquet today. The winner in the Institutional Design category is Warsaw Community Church, an Aspen-Group project.

The ICMA developed this award program to honor companies and building owners for outstanding design of projects utilizing concrete masonry and/or clay units. The 65,000 sq. ft. Warsaw project featured an aesthetically pleasing combination of split-faced and ground-faced block on the exterior.

A panel of architects reviewed the entries and selected the winners.

Warsaw Community Church is located in Warsaw, Indiana, a city with a concentration of white-collar professionals. This growing congregation had a clearly defined vision for creative outreach to business workers and the community at large. The plan was to provide a premier conference/performance facility that would be available for business meetings and community functions. Aspen Group architects created a design that combined the approachability of a community center with the comfortable stylishness of a contemporary office building.

Aspen Group is one of the nation's largest church-focused design/build firms with over a decade of experience serving churches and ministries throughout the Midwest from offices in Frankfort, Ill and Carmel, Ind.

In 1999, Aspen Group began Cornerstone Conferences, educational seminars that prepare church leaders for the challenges of construction. These conferences attracted other church construction-related companies and led to the founding of Cornerstone Knowledge Network (CKN). This network develops and disseminates meaningful knowledge that radically improves how church facilities impact ministry. Aspen Group is a principal member and director of CKN.
