Cornerstone Christian Academy - Phase 1
Bloomington, Illinois
Aspen Group created a multi-phase master plan for this growing five-year old independent Christian school to enable them to accomplish their goals one step at a time. Phase 1 is a $4.5 million 51,300 square-foot building, which includes 27 classrooms, a gym and administrative offices. The steel building with split-face block exterior was designed by Aspen Group to accommodate the school’s staff of 40 and about 325 students, who have been attending classes at three different sites. “This is a good start. It will get us all under one roof,” said Administrator Becky Shamess. “Word of mouth and referrals led us to Aspen Group. It was a good decision.” This fall, students ages three years through 8th grade will be enrolled. A higher grade level will be added each year until the school reaches 12th grade. When funding is available, additional building phases will include fine arts rooms, a library, cafeteria, computer labs and athletic fields. “Our vision is to eventually offer everything children need and want in a school,” Shamess said.
