Vineyard Community Church remodel

Greenwood, Indiana

Needing space, but not yet ready to take the plunge and build an all-new campus, this church opted to purchase an existing church building down the street.

While the new building provided the additional space and parking they’d wanted, the traditional décor was incompatible with Vineyard Community Church’s personality. The entire facility was typical of many churches built in the 1960s and 1970s, with dark wood paneling, wooden pews, painted block walls and dim lighting. The building needed a renovation. For that, VCC turned to Aspen Group.

Aspen architects created a design that transformed the insides of the building into a comfortable, contemporary space consistent with the VCC’s culture and ministry objectives.

Throughout the building, the dark and dated décor was replaced with lighter, brighter and softer finishes. Windows were added to bring in additional natural light. In the sanctuary, the dark paneling, pews, dim lighting and old stage were replaced with bright colors, theater seating, updated light fixtures and a modern performance stage.
