The Aspen story originated with my dad, Ed Bahler Sr. He believed in making a difference at church, at work, and in the community. To make a difference, he was passionate about helping people multiply their talents. I was blessed to graduate from Purdue with an engineering degree. Instead of going on to grad school, I went back home to join in my dad’s story. As our company FBi Buildings grew, it became natural for us to reach out to churches. This soon grew into a separate division called Aspen Group. Following Dad’s example, I feel led to help reshape ministry by multiplying talent to better help people find their way back to God.
The Most Rewarding Aspect of My Job
It’s a privilege to train and mentor the Millennials in our companies to carry on the effort for Kingdom impact long after we’re gone. I am confident they’ll take it way beyond what we’ve been able to.
I have “Learner” in my Top 5 Strength Finders, so I love to discover and explore. I am drawn to books that provide insight into cultural dynamics (Barna, Pink, etc.), ministry dynamics (Ferguson, Chan, etc.), and organizational dynamics (Jim Collins, etc.). Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of great content available regarding ministry space, so we are researching and writing it ourselves.
I’m also drawn to insights on parenting, discipling, and the art of speaking and influencing others.
Though I prefer books more than magazines, the ones I do read are Leadership Journal, Outreach, and Forbes.
Favorite Family Tradition
Each summer my entire “tribe” (15 adults and 15 grandkids) heads to Hilton Head Island, SC, for vacation. We rent a big house and bask in the richness of all the relationships. It may be as close to Heaven as I can get on this side.
