I’ve been sketching buildings and playing with Legos since I was a kid, and I always knew I wanted to be an architect. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Ball State and my Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Through the years, architecture has challenged me by being both an art and a science—the balance of these two is what keeps every project interesting.
The Most Rewarding Aspect of My Job:
As a project architect I enjoy guiding churches through the process of building a church. There is a lot that happens between the first sketch and the first worship service, and it can feel overwhelming. I strive to be someone that the church can trust to get them through this process.
Outside of the Office
If I’m not working, I’m with my wife and two kids, going on walks to the playground or playing outside. I love traveling with them and seeing the world. I also enjoy playing drums at my church. My enthusiasm for design continues outside of architecture with my interest in watches and bicycles. My Dutch heritage translates to my love of riding bikes and eating poffertjes (small Dutch pancakes).
