Design Creates Culture and Solves Problems

Day Five: The Bridge Church
Bradenton, Florida

The Bridge Church, in Bradenton, Florida has a mission to love people where they are. This close knit church family really values relationships and connection, yet they lacked adequate space on their campus to connect and gather, as well as a defined entry point to the building. They also needed a better solution for the kid’s check-in and ministry areas, and a larger worship venue.

When Aspen set out to partner with The Bridge, the plan was to start with a new building addition, but when the pandemic hit, the team pivoted, and while in-person attendance was low, they renovated the worship venue. As a result, they never missed a Sunday of worship during construction, which has been a successful “Ministry in the Dust” story for Aspen Group.

Phase two is underway with plans for a new, clear entry, with visible exterior signage. When someone walks into the space the first thing they’ll see is how bright and open it is, clear signage will guide them to each point. Families will be in no doubt of where to go to check their kids in or where to connect with other families. Clear signage will guide people to all the areas off the main hub: Gathering and connection zones, kid’s ministry spaces, administrative offices, small group rooms, and the worship venue.

The design of these spaces reflects The Bridge’s message that everyone is welcome, no matter what stage of life they’re in. The goal was that the design of the space would scream relationship and draw people closer to Jesus. With this goal in mind, there’s no doubt that this improved ministry space will help put The Bridge in a better position to reach the community of Bradenton for Christ.
