Hear the story behind the space:
First Baptist Church of Greensburg, in Greensburg, Indiana, passionately follows Jesus and glorifies God in all they do. The church’s leadership comes alongside their congregation to help them grow in their walk with Jesus, no matter what stage they are in their faith journey.
One of the issues they had with their existing structure was the lack of a clear entry point into the building, which made it seem more like a fortress than a welcoming church extending into the community. There also wasn’t enough connecting spaces and flexible spaces for adults. The nursery was also located in the basement, which wasn’t an ideal location.
A big win for First Baptist is the new entry addition, which was designed to mimic the current architecture of the church. This clear point of entry leaves out any confusion about where to enter the building, and provides a ramp for those who need assistance. A new, sizeable bank of windows provides a view into the church, and bathes the entryway in light. The addition of landscaping lends that welcoming finishing touch.
The church offices were relocated to expand the lobby, which flows into a renovated multi-purpose fellowship hall with a new dividable classroom/conference room. Now there’s ample connecting and flexible adult spaces for all their fellowship and ministry needs. The offices were relocated to a designated administrative entry point to better control traffic, cleaning, and utility usage. This relocation also allows more privacy for anyone coming in for counseling.
A new nursery and mother's room were relocated to the main level, with more convenient adjacency to the adult spaces, giving parents peace of mind and better proximity to their children.
Minor cosmetic updates were made in the gym, including acoustical panels to help with sound for potential future worship overflow.
