Aspen Group is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Construction Project Accountant to join our team. This role is essential in managing the financial health of multiple construction projects, ensuring accurate invoicing, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting practices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles and experience with project cost tracking, financial reporting, and contract management.

You will work closely with accounting teammates, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure financial processes are aligned with project timelines and goals.

Some of the responsibilities will include:

Collects, reviews, and processes subcontractor/supplier monthly project invoices. Needs to ensure all invoices have been accrued properly and timely to the correct cost reports and codes.

Manage and communicate job cash flow.

Analyze job costs and identify problems.

Collects and reviews project subcontractor/supplier lien waivers, certificates of insurance and W-9s.

Participates in project review meetings.

Issue project performance reports and perform proactive cost analyses.

  • 3+ years of construction accounting experience, preferably with a commercial General Contractor.
  • Construction ERP experience required. Acumatica experience a plus.
  • Procore experience desired but not required.
  • 4 year degree in Accounting or Construction Management preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Risk Management – is proactive in identifying and mitigating contract and project accounting-related risks.
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, teamwork.
  • Analytical and critical thinking.

The preferred location for this position is out of our Frankfort, Illinois location. It is available as a hybrid schedule. We would consider fully remote candidates on a case-by-case basis.

We estimate an approximately 10% travel requirement.

Demonstrates effectiveness in working in a team setting, superb communication and problem solving skills, above-average emotional intelligence, and strong detail-orientation. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task in in a fast-paced environment.
