Project Engineer

The Project Engineer plays a critical part of our teams for larger Aspen Group projects (generally in the $8 -25M range).   Working closely with the Project Manager, they maximize project efficiency by understanding project specifications, identifying and acquiring necessary materials, and developing and controlling the full project schedule. They have involvement from pre-construction to project close-out.

Given the nature of our delivery method, this is a highly collaborative position where you will work across the organization with architectural, interior, and landscape designers, outside consultants, internal Project Managers, sub contractors, and field superintendents.

The ideal candidate has a track record of success in project management, must be an outstanding communicator, and an even better strategist.

This opportunity will be based at our large project jobsite in Lakeland, Florida.

Some of the responsibilities will include:

·       Drives preparation of procurement and construction schedules.

·       Assists with buyout of project for commodity type materials and subcontracts

·       Manages reports such as project status and meeting minutes

·       Assists PM with financials such as change orders and subcontractor proposals

·       Track material delivery status to prevent construction delays

·       Work as a collaborative team to obtain permits

·       Review submittals and monitor submittal schedules

·       Follow-up with external suppliers/subcontractors to ensure timely response to action items

·       Assist in construction cost estimates and value engineering exercises

·       Ensure timely responses to RFIs

Two or more years of experience in project management, project engineering, or project planning (scope, schedule, cost, quality) on commercial construction projects. Experience in field management. Procore & MS Project experience.

Minimum four-year degree in Civil Engineering or Building Construction Management.

Demonstrates effectiveness in working in a team setting, communicating with others and technical competence. Capable of carrying out independent assignments with minimal supervision. Demonstrates an understanding of construction practices and methodologies. Adept at problem solving. Professional with effective communication skills and time management skills. Highly motivated, organized, and detail oriented. Results-oriented with ability to manage people and tasks in a deadline driven environment.
